Welcome Message

Welcome to Child-Centered Documentation: The Self-Paced Course.

I’m Rosie Newman, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and the Director of Seattle Play Therapy, a small private practice where we provide play therapy to children and families. I also teach play therapy as an adjunct professor at Seattle University and the University of WA., School of Social Work.

I created the Child-Centered Documentation framework, or CCD, which we’ll be focusing on in this course. It’s also the foundation of my book, Play Therapy Documentation Essentials. Whether you found the course first or came here after reading the book, both were designed to work together. My goal with both is to help child-centered play therapists feel confident in their work—by making it easier to understand what’s happening in the playroom, organize that work into treatment plans, and share it clearly with caregivers and systems, while staying true to CCPT.

The training is set up in six modules. They build on each other, so I recommend moving through them in order. But you can always come back and revisit them as needed. You’ll also find handouts in the book appendix and in the CCD Manual and Desk Reference that come with this course. The examples here are different from the ones in the book, though there is some overlap.

Thank you for beginning this journey toward meaningful and heart-centered documentation. I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to walking alongside you as you bring the CCD framework into your practice.
